TRU BLUE
As if those crazy Tru Calling fans haven't suffered enough at the hands of Fox, the network has decided to pull the serial thriller off the air after this Thursday's episode — effectively cheating them out of seeing the show's sixth and final original installment. Adding insult to injury, Fox is replacing next week's Tru finale with The Simple Life: Interns! I'm beginning to think someone at Fox really hates Eliza Dushku.
MARTHA ON HOLD
CBS has delayed its much-talked-about Martha Stewart telepic, Martha: Behind Bars, until the fall. The movie was originally slated to air May 25. In its place, CBS will run another ripped-from-the-headlines flick, Amber Frey: Witness for the Prosecution.
STRIP TEASE
Ashton Kutcher says if his new romantic comedy A Lot Like Love tops the weekend box office, he'll drop trou. "If we are the No. 1 movie in America, I will do a Calvin Klein underwear campaign," he told Access Hollywood. "It's actually a bet that I made with my producing partner, so we will see what happens." And what if the Nicole Kidman-Sean Penn thriller The Interpreter takes the top spot instead? Says Kutcher: "Oh, crap — I thought that was opening next weekend."
WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS...
After nine years of marriage, James Caan has filed for divorce from his wife, Linda. "I love and respect my wife as a friend and as a mother," the Las Vegas star said in a statement. "Our goal in life is to continue to be great parents and great friends. Our children are our entire lives and they will remain as such." The couple have two children, Jacob, 6, and James Jr., 9.
EXEC SHUFFLE
Good morning. There's been a major behind-the-scenes shake-up at the Today show. With "America's First Family" losing precious ground to Good Morning America in the ratings, NBC has fired executive producer Tom Touchet and replaced him with MSNBC exec Phil Griffin, today, April 20, 2004. [Cue opening theme] Announcer: "Live from Studio 1A in Rockefeller Plaza.... "
BUSTED
Comedian Chris Tucker was briefly jailed Sunday morning after Georgia cops pulled over his 2005 Bentley after it was clocked going 109 mph on Interstate 20, per TheSmokingGun.com. The 33-year-old Rush Hour star was booked for reckless driving and failing to pull over right away. He spent about 30 minutes in lockup before posting a cash bond and being released.
CODE CRACKERS
Ian McKellen and Alfred Molina have joined the cast of Ron Howard's big-screen adaptation of The Da Vinci Code, Variety reports. The pic stars Tom Hanks as Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon and Audrey Tautou as his cryptographer-sidekick Sophie Neveu.
SUPERHERO CROSSOVER
WB will air an exclusive eight-minute preview of Batman Begins during the 90-minute season finale of Smallville on May 18.
