Talk about a good friend. As soon as Jack Nicholson, 67, heard that an old buddy "only had a few weeks to live," says a source, "he jumped on a plane" from L.A. to New York -- though it was his own birthday -- so that he could spend time with his pal at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. According to the source, the Oscar-winner was at his friend's side for the two days that he stayed in New York and gave his pal a copy of Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven. Though the novel discusses the afterlife, the source relates that the seemingly morbid gift was appreciated by Nicholson's friend.
