| ASHTON & DEMI |
On March 16 proud parents-to- be Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore were glowing as they partied at the New York City hot spot Marquee, celebrating the premiere of Ashton's new big-screen romantic comedy, Guess Who. In the club's VIP room, Ashton, 27, sat perched atop a banquette with Demi snuggled between his legs, occasionally jumping up to dance. They stayed until 2:30 a.m. "They looked like they were in bliss!" says one onlooker. They had every reason to celebrate: Ashton was gearing up for his movie's March 25 release, he was hosting Saturday Night Live on March 19... and, as sources have confirmed, the two are expecting their first baby together in October and are thrilled!
"Ashton is completely psyched about being a dad," one source tells Star. And, the source says, Demi's three daughters (Rumer, 16, Scout, 13, and Tallulah Belle, 11 -- all with Bruce Willis) are "really excited" too, even though the way they found out about the pregnancy wasn't how they planned it. The pregnancy "came as a total surprise," an insider says. At eight weeks, Demi and Ashton were still waiting to break the news to their families, but the press broke it first. "Bruce was taken aback that he found out through reports and not through Demi," says the insider.
WHY HOLD THE NEWS BACK? So why was Demi being so secretive? "She has this big fear about losing the baby," a source tells Star, a fear based on her previous miscarriage in 1997, when she was two months pregnant with Bruce Willis' child. The couple, then in the last stages of their marriage, was staying at their vacation house in Idaho. "It was awful," Bruce told a friend at the time.
The good news, according to Dr. Richard J. Paulson, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Southern California, who does not treat Demi, is that the earlier miscarriage should give Demi no reason to worry this time around. "One miscarriage does not in any way impact future childbearing," Paulson says. He also says that if Demi is now past the two-month mark, "the risk of miscarriage really drops a lot. It's likely she would have a normal delivery."
