American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry and his band had most popular album of the year, according to Billboard magazine. The band sold 3.2 million copies of their self-titled debut. Akon came in second, selling 2.7 million copies of Konvicted. Fergie's The Dutchess sold 2.4 million copies, coming in third place, followed by the Hannah Montana and Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts.

As for the single of the year category, Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" topped the charts followed by Rihanna's "Umbrella." Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape," Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" and T-Pain's "Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin')" rounded out the Top 5.
